Juniors
(ages 6–12)
Our Juniors program is designed to help kids round out as people and martial artists. They are taught lessons and skills that can help make them better siblings, students, and future leaders. Take a look at the kids Taekwondo class page to learn more.
Our Juniors program teaches self-confidence, focus, self-discipline, courtesy and teamwork in a fun environment.
During a typical class students may participate in a variety of activities such as:
- Working with an instructor to learn or improve their Form
- Practicing sparring or one-step skills
- Working with a partner on target drills to learn to punch and kick more effectively
- Participating in a relay race
- Learning about bullies or stranger danger, practicing kicking combinations, using the rail for support, and other fun, cardio, strength, and agility drills.
Taekwondo can also become an influential tool in a child’s personal development such as:
- Having the self-confidence and strength to better deal with bullies
- Developing self-discipline and self-control to not bully others
- Combating childhood obesity
- Learning to focus and improve school performance
- Setting and achieving short term and long-term goals
- Becoming role models and develop leadership qualities

This is the beginning of our self-defense training at Emmons’ Taekwondo Academy. Students in our juniors program are taught different techniques and the confidence to handle themselves to defend themselves. This also translates to handling bullying, working to solve any issue before using violence.
We want all our junior students to feel they can be themselves.
